About Me
I am a somatic yoga teacher, nervous system educator, and author of The Soma Awakens.
With over 15 years of teaching experience, my work brings together yoga, somatic movement, and nervous system awareness to support gentle, lasting change in the body.
My approach has been shaped not only by study, but by my own lived experience of healing after childhood trauma and physical injury. Through this, I discovered that the body does not respond to force or intensity, but to patience, safety, and awareness.
I guide people to reconnect with their body, understand patterns of tension, and learn how to release them in a natural and sustainable way.
My work is calm, accessible, and suitable for beginners as well as those returning to movement after stress, fatigue, or injury.
At its core, my teaching is about something simple:
the body already knows how to find balance — sometimes it just needs the right conditions.
My work is trauma-aware movement, which means we prioritise safety, choice and gentle pacing. It complements therapeutic work but does not replace psychotherapy.
Beneath the physical practices lies a deeper invitation — to reconnect with the quiet intelligence of the body.
Understanding Somatic Movement
Somatic movement is a gentle, awareness-based approach to reconnecting with your body and releasing long-held tension. Rather than focusing on performance, stretching, or “doing more,” somatic practices invite you to slow down, feel, and listen to the subtle signals your body has been carrying—sometimes for years.
The word somatic comes from the Greek soma, meaning the living body in its wholeness. In somatic movement, we work from the inside out, beginning not with shapes or poses, but with sensation, breath, and the body’s natural intelligence.
Somatic movement differs from many traditional movement practices because it is not externalised. There is no expectation to achieve a perfect form or push through discomfort. Instead, the emphasis is on inner awareness, gentle micro-movements, and cultivating the conditions in which the nervous system can relax and let go.
Trauma-Aware Approach
My work is guided by a trauma-aware philosophy that honours the body’s need for safety, choice, and self-direction. In every session, you are invited — never instructed — to explore gentle somatic movements at your own pace.
There is no expectation to push, perform, or achieve a particular result. You are always free to pause, modify, or simply remain present.
This work supports nervous system regulation and body awareness. It can complement therapeutic or wellbeing practices, but it is not a substitute for psychotherapy or medical care.
All sessions are choice-based and trauma-aware, meaning your comfort, pacing, and autonomy are always respected.
